  • San Fernando Christian Community—A Safe Haven

San Fernando Christian Community is a safe, positive, and encouraging environment.  So many people are drawn to this place and most of the time, they could not explain exactly why.  Some say it’s because of the warm reception of the people.  Everyone is genuinely welcoming, friendly, and always ready with a smile.  Some say it’s the never-ending surprises and activities with each service. It’s true that SFCC is laden with so much activities and ministries within and outside the center.  But the priority will always be ‘souls’.  Each one counts.  The Bible says that “there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10).     Every moment is an opportunity to minister to someone.  As  Christians, we should reflect the love of God—love that has the power to heal, to feed, and to save.  Jesus said,“He  has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,”
We are blessed with the knowledge that Christ died for our sins. This is the ultimate expression of His everlasting love for us.   In the same way we should also bless others. You can’t proclaim effectively about the love of God without reflecting that love.  And that is why people see the church as a safe haven.  Like the moon, we simply reflect the radiance and warmth of our Savior who is the ultimate source of everything that is good.

  • Moral Recovery Programs at the Philippine National Police Region 1

The Philippine National Police Regional Office 1 has invited San Fernando Christian Community to facilitate seminars on different topics which  cater to different needs or problem areas. The first seminar conducted last July 26 focused on single parenthood. Vikki Cayago opened the seminar with her personal testimony about battling with the stigma of being a single mom and how she raised  her child with God as her partner.  Pastor Tim shared about dependence not on man but solely on God.  Our validation should only come from God and no one else.  He also shared that God’s relationship with us is personal and customized.  One single mom with a 5-month old baby was brought to tears.  She laments the dreariness of her situation but with the message brought by the SFCC team, she has new hope that God will turn it around.

Vikki Cayago shares her personal testimony about being a single parent.

Many were moved to tears as they listen to the sharing.

Pastor Tim presents a new hope for the single parents who feel desperate about their situation.

    Comforting the broken-hearted

Another seminar conducted was about “Finding the Right Partner”. Rhudalyn Bumachi emphasized that it’s better to be single than to be married to the wrong person..  Roseann Gallardo shared her testimony about remaining single by choice until God gives her the go signal.  Indeed, there are so many misconceptions about love, sex, and marriage.  This has been brought about by different ideas and beliefs disseminated by various forms of media.  But the Truth lies in what the Bible says about these things.  And in the end,  this Truth is what everyone should adhere to.

Pastor Tim shares his personal testimony about listening to God’s leading in finding the right partner.

Roseann Gallardo shared her testimony about remaining single by choice until God gives her the go signal.

Mark Henry Munar shares about his personal testimony about waiting on God.

  • Pre-encounter Part 1

    July 27-28, 2013
    (Sat. & Sun.)

The pre-encounter kicked off to a good start.  Those who attended learned about ‘Four Wonderful Opportunities’ which no one should ever pass by. Other topics were about ‘The Benefits of the Cross’, ‘The New Birth’ and its benefits.  Meldan Palabay, a high school student, could not contain herself.  She said she learned a lot from the sessions and could not wait for part 2.  This is just the beginning and already, many are experiencing a personal  encounter with Jesus.  It is without question that an encounter with Jesus is  life-changing—sadness disappears, pain dissolves, and depression is broken.  Let us continue to pray for more transformed lives, more renewed hearts, and more uplifted spirits.

  • McDonald’s Playground

Help us build the McDonald’s playground for the children

San Fernando Christian Community is building a McDonald’s playground for the kids.  We want to create a safe, fun, and kid-friendly haven for the children.  However, assembly is taking its toll because of the lack of a manual.  If you think you can contribute in helping us piece the playground together, please contact us at info@christian.com.ph.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Water Baptism

Water baptism is a celebration of your decision to follow Jesus. It is a public declaration of the covenant you have made with God.   This is your  response to God—to show to the world what He has done for you.  Water baptism symbolizes the believer’s total trust in, and total reliance on the Lord Jesus Christ, as well as a commitment to live obediently to Him.
During baptism, we let ourselves be completely immersed in the water. This symbolizes burial with our Lord. We are baptized into His death on the cross and are no longer slaves to self or sin (Romans 6:3-7) . When we are raised out of the water, we are symbolically resurrected—raised to our new life in Christ and to be with Him forever, born into the family of our loving God (Romans 8:16).

Water Baptism is every last Sunday of the month.  Register at the Information Table and attend the short orientation. Bring extra clothes, a towel, toiletries for rinsing off, and your readiness to publicly declare to the world that you have made a decision to follow Jesus.

  • True Love Waits

    17 July 2013, Wednesday
The ‘True Love Waits’ Campaign Begins

‘True Love Waits Campaign’ is committed to impacting the youth by teaching them to remain pure in heart which will lead them to make the right choices-especially in the issue of sexual abstinence until marriage.

Teen pregnancy in the Philippines has risen up to 65% in the last decade.  It is a problem that can no longer  be ignored.  The rise of easy access to information via the different forms of media is being blamed as  the number one culprit.  The world is being desensitized by television and website ads with blatant sexual overtones giving everybody the idea that it’s okay to ‘do’ it because everybody else is doing it.  But if we look at the Truth, sexual relations is a holy and sacred gift by God given to a husband and wife.  The world’s culture today mars the original plan and design of our Creator about sex. Moral purity has gone to the dogs.  True Love waits is designed to encourage moral purity by adhering to biblical principles.  Through a variety of resources, students will be challenged to make the decision to wait until marriage.

The campaign started at the DMMMSU Mid-La Union Campus in San Fernando City.  The College of Technology students were the first audience.  The SFCC team presented song numbers emphasizing on waiting on the Lord and preserving one’s purity.  Mark Henry Munar discussed the ‘Path to Purity’ and why it’s okay to not conform to the ways of the world and decide to wait on God’s timing.  Pastor Tim gave his testimony about his decision to remain a virgin until marriage and how his marriage is now blessed because of that decision.

Moral values have taken a backseat but it is time that we make a change. Purity is a gift and a lifestyle.  Equip the youth and help them align their future to God’s perfect plan for them (Jer. 29:11).  Give them the real answers.  Give them the Truth.   Let them know that true love waits.

  • The Young & the Restless

“Point your kids in the right direction—
when they’re old they won’t be lost.” – (Proverbs 22:6)

    Thursday, July 11, 2013

The men of San Fernando Christian Community led by Pastor Tim Warden joined the 18th Police Community Relations Month.  The group headed to the juvenile rehabilitation center in Bauang, La Union.  There, they performed evangelistic skits & mimes, and facilitated ice breaker activities.  They also led worship and shared their respective life-changing testimonies.  All these activities led the inmates to receive Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
Mark Henry Munar, 27, was a rebellious youth whose life was changed when he received Christ.  He was among those who volunteered to minister to the young detainees.  He shares that he thought he’s had the worst kind of life.  He realizes now that he is not alone and that he is glad that he met Jesus.  This became the major turning point of his life.
Christopher Cornelio, 15, after participating in the outreach activity realizes that he is blessed to have known Jesus at such a young age. His old life was no different than those shared by the young inmates.
Rodel Munar, 47, a father of three, also performed and helped facilitate in the program.  He is grateful that his kids have a personal relationship with Christ.  His heart breaks for the youth who are serving their time in jail but is confident that what they shared on that day will plant a seed in their young hearts.  R-jay dela Cruz, also a volunteer, adds that he is convinced that these inmates still have a second chance at life.  And he is positive that Christ is the catalyst.
