Water baptism is an act of obedience & faith. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
It is also a public declaration that you are a follower of Jesus Christ. It is declaring your faith & commitment to living a life with Jesus in it. It is saying goodbye to the old life and welcoming a new life with Jesus.
Mother & daughter Rosalie & Rayca Du De Vera celebrated last Sunday with a splash. Together, they experienced water baptism. Rosalie, a very sprightly single mom declares that she wants to bury ‘the old Rosalie’. “Gusto ko na yung bagong ako.” (” I like the new me.”) , she happily announces.
Her daughter, Rayca, relishes the feeling of being a new creation. “Nagpa-baptize ako kasi masarap malinisan spiritually at isa itong patunay na anak ako ng Diyos!” (“I chose to be baptized because it feels good to be spiritually clean & to declare that I am a true child of God!”)
